At Corner Juice, we believe in the power of community and the impact we can make when we come together for a good cause. Recently, we've embarked on a heartfelt mission to support the UVA Cancer Center, inspired by a touching story from one of our own customers. We’re excited to share this journey with you and invite you to join us in making a difference.
A Smoothie with a Story
In June of 2021, Ashley Craddock’s mother was diagnosed with cancer and began chemotherapy soon after. As many cancer patients experience, her appetite dwindled, making it difficult to find foods that appealed to her.
“My mom was diagnosed with cancer in June of 2021, and she started chemotherapy pretty shortly thereafter. And as is often the case, she really didn’t feel like eating much,” Ashley shared.
“My brother developed a smoothie, a custom smoothie, at Corner Juice that he would bring her. And that honestly was one of the few things that she felt like eating.” This custom creation, named the “Emmie,” became a source of nourishment and comfort during her treatment.
Turning Comfort into Support:
Inspired by the positive impact of the Emmie smoothie on their mother, Ashley and her brother wanted to extend that comfort to others. We decided to put the Emmie on our menu for a week and donate all proceeds to the UVA Cancer Center.
“She’s still undergoing treatment and, you know, continues her battle. And we also wanted to help other patients like her,” Ashley explained.
